As of the 18 March 2018, the 457 work visa has been replaced by the TSS 482 Temporary Skill Shortage Visa.
The TSS visa allow employers to bring in skilled workers when they cannot source an appropriately skilled Australian.
TSS visa holders can work in Australia in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor under one of the following three streams:
- Short-Term stream
- Medium-Term stream
- Labour Agreement stream.
To be eligibility you must have the skills to fill a position nominated by an approved business and it must be for an approved occupation.
Holders of the TSS 482 Visa are eligible to stay in Australia for from one to four years depending on the nominated occupation, the visa stream and the applicants circumstances.
